Patterns and Visions Permissions Post
One of the unique aspects of Leoben in Battlestar Galactica, is that he has the ability to see "patterns". In simpler terms, he has the ability to see the future, in one of two ways.
The first is through the patterns, which appears to work as, if you were having a conversation with him, he'd know what you were going to say before you say it. The second is through a full-out vision, which usually correctly predicts future events. The first seems to be constant thing, whereas the second is more rare. Because of these patterns, Leoben tends to know a lot about people just from looking at them. He can't read your mind, but he can know your past, and possibly your future, basically.
Canonically, Leoben hasn't been wrong, but he has been known to interpret things incorrectly, either to suit his own agenda or just because. Please keep that in mind for any plottings.
To avoid any accidental god-modding or anything like that, please answer the following questions.
1. How much can Leoben know about your character?
In other words, how far back in your character's history can Leoben see? How far forward? Is there some traumatic event you don't want brought up or anything like that?
*Please note that how much your canon is touched upon in a conversation is dependent on how well I know the canon.
2. What are some things that Leoben can tell right off the bat? Anything that you want to remain hidden?
Is your character human or not? Do they have some special powers? Anything like that.
3. Is your character some kind of chosen one and is it alright if Leoben picks up on that?
Leoben tends to notice people with destinies. If spotted he will try to help you complete it. His methods aren't perfect however.
4. Is it okay for Leoben to predict your character's future through the patterns?
He might predict that your character will trip on something, or something along those lines.
5. Going with that, would you be interested in a full-out vision at some point?
We'd discuss and plot of course.

1. Arabia causes his 'mother', Futuna's, death. If Leoben would like to annoy the ever loving Hell out of Arabia I would advise mentioning that the Serpent is preparing to take the Panther down. I'd advise checking out his app for a brief explanation of WTF is up there. Most things in Arabia's app are free game.
2. Arabia is a witch!
3. Arabia himself is not the prodigal! His 'brother' is a conduit of Power which pretty much means he's very fluent in the magic-of-magic, he's super powerful, but he's also very neutral and responsible in that power because it's what he was born to. ARABIA himself is the one person that his brother will break neutrality for.
4. I am going to say that muddle from Highland's protective powers around Arabia would make this difficult.
5. If we can think up a plotline for it! And honestly.... Arabia has a thing! For clockwork people, he would love to add Leoben to his collection.
1. Anything in Tink's app is free game.
2. Tinkerbell is a teenage boy who was cursed by Arabia! He is sort of bound together fate/magic-wise with his best friend
3. He is not!
4. Yes he may!
5. If Leoben ever wants to make Tink cry by telling him about his little brothers (see appppp) that would be cool with me.

1. Anything and everything! Best Wishes especially.
2. Ash is human, but he has the ability of aura. Also, Pikachu has electric powers, yeah.
3. ... ... well, he was, but he's probably going to be the chosen one again in the future.
4. Sure!
5. If we can think of something, sure.
1. No, thank you.
2. She's a 'god' who can control things around her.
3. Nope.
4. Go ahead!
5. OF COURSE

There's not much I can give on his future, unless you'd like to plot something out (which I'm totally fine with, if ever) or Leoben can also detect alternate futures (Trunks has at least two other alternate timelines to choose from XD)
2) He's half-human, half-alien \o/
3) I... don't think so? Unless you can count his contribution to an alternate timeline (i.e. his time machine gets stolen, which enables the monster that killed him to time-travel) as some kind of portent ^^;
4) Sure! Totally up for plotting things out!
5) Yes ^_^

1) It's all fair game!
2) He's human, but he's got kind of a power boost from some relics called "MAGI." He's also died and been brought back once and has killed a couple of gods.
3) I'm not sure whether I'd say he's ~chosen by destiny~ so much as he just happened to be the guy who decided to stand up and do what needed doing. On the other hand, I guess he is kind of chosen by Odin (the god who revived him after he died), and in the remake he gets the three goddesses of fate being all cryptic at him, so...you could say he's chosen in that sense. Totally fine for Leoben to pick up on, anyway!
4) Go for it!
5) Sure!
Tatsuya -
1)Anything in the app is fair game. Although I don't think I have it linked in his journal so I WILL GO BACK AND FIX THAT SOON, whoops.
2) Tatsuya is human, but he does have the power to summon up physical manifestations of his psyche, which are called Personas.
3) He and his friends did kind of get singled out by Philemon and given a sharp shove in the direction of saving the world, but this is less because they're ~the chosen ones~ and more because some dumb mistakes they made as children opened up the world to destruction in the first place. Then they failed to save it, and made a deal with Philemon to reset reality in exchange for their memories so it would still exist. That's where he is now in canon -- after his current canon point, he screws up the reset and becomes ~the only one~ to remember the other reality, Nyarlathotep marks him and they play cat-and-mouse fighting over whether the world gets destroyed again for the other half of canon. So I'd say he's chosen by destiny, for kind of a weird value of "chosen."
...god that was tl;dr, I'm sorry. Persona 2 is really convoluted and full of mindfuck.
4) Sure.
5) Sure.
Dowd -
1) Once again, it's all fair game!
2) Dowd is a completely normal guy. About the only special thing to notice is that he is technically dead (arrived in Splendor right after his untimely demise).
3) Nothing special here! He's the nervous sidekick who decided to stay home while his best friend went off and saved the world.
4) Sure!
5) Sure.

2. He's immortal, but otherwise just a normal human.
3. Firo's not a chosen one or anything.
4. Yes, that is quite alright.
5. Sure, go ahead.

1. Anything in their apps is pretty fair game, although I'm not sure how Spada's past life would work with Leoben's powers, though if you're interested in working with that it's all gravy. 8)
2. There's nothing too special about Legretta; for the most part, her history is very straightforward, and while she would like for her brother's traumatic death and the experiences which brought her to Van to be hidden I have no issue with Leoben knowing about it.
As for Spada, he might realize off the bat that there's a duality to Spada's soul/he has a past life/something like that; he's really a 'God' of sorts who's been reincarnated into a human. I'd prefer it if details of Spada's past life weren't brought up casually in conversation, but if you'd like to plot around it sometime that's fine!
3. Again, Legretta's pretty straightforward. She's the Adjutant Commandant to the one who Seizes Glory, but she herself has no particular 'destiny' and is actually dead already at her canon point. Spada has the whole past life/used to be a God thing going for him, and he's going to be present for Luca using the ancient power of the Manifest to restore his world — it's sort of 'prophesied' by one of the other gods that he'd bring peace to the world and protect people. If that makes any sense.
4. Yes for both of them! Go wild.
5. Yep, I'd be all for it. Just let me know. 8)
Since we're housemates this might be helpful.
I'd say anything that happens during the course of the video game is fair game - after he becomes "Asch". Though he is certainly extremely guarded about certain topics, specifically his replica/replication and also the time he spent on the S.S. Thor (Mostly Harmless). He wouldn't be too thrilled about either of those things being brought up, but since we may be getting a Luke, I'm sure the replica thing *will* become an issue.
2. What are some things that Leoben can tell right off the bat? Anything that you want to remain hidden?
Asch does have some special abilities. Essentially he's a "magic swordsman" - a knight, if you will, who was raised as a noble. He also has a unique ability in his world (hyperresonance) that only he (and Luke) can perform on their own. It's a glowy power that can break down and reform matter at the atomic level, though it can also neutralize/disperse stuff in the air, but since the air here isn't made of fonons, I'm not sure how effective the latter would be.
3. Is your character some kind of chosen one and is it alright if Leoben picks up on that?
Asch was (originally). A prophecy on his world foretold that Asch (born Luke) would lead his kingdom to "unprecedented prosperity" by using "a forbidden power". Though Asch strays from this destiny, he aids Luke and the others in saving the world and freeing a higher sentient being. He tends to resist fulfilling/following the prophecy itself, but all-in-all he has the good of humanity in mind.
4. Is it okay for Leoben to predict your character's future through the patterns?
Sure, though I'm not certain what that would be at the moment.
5. Going with that, would you be interested in a full-out vision at some point?
If it comes up, sure, I'd be up for it.
Hah, Luke post right after Asch. XD
You got your LukeIt will probably be incredibly useful to take this particular permissions post in relation to the one above this one, to try to avoid redundancy...)1. How much can Leoben know about your character?
As with Asch, anything from the game is fair game - the sensitive topics for Luke, however - include Akzeriuth and the Tower of Rem and its aftermath - the former is where he was deceived by his idol into a destroying a city of 10,000 people, as well as learned he was only a replica. Meanwhile the latter is when he forced himself to (attempt to) sacrifice himself for both Asch's and the world's sake and though he somehow managed to survive, he learned shortly afterwards that he is eventually going to die from an equivalent to a terminal illness spawning from the attempted sacrifice. Being Asch's replica is also a bit of a touchy topic for him - though not as much as it used to be. I'm fine with any of this coming up in private, but give me a heads up before any of the big items are brought up in public channels.
2. What are some things that Leoben can tell right off the bat? Anything that you want to remain hidden?
Well... for all intents and purposes, replicas in Tales of the Abyss function like clones, except for the fact that they are the age of the person from whom the data was taken at the time it was taken (for instance, Luke is seven years old [thus the username hehe], but he looks seventeen, because Asch was replicated at age ten), so if Leoben would pick up on something like that, then there. Also, like Asch, he has the power of hyperresonance, and some magic swordsman abilities, though the "magic" part isn't nearly as developed in his case.
3. Is your character some kind of chosen one and is it alright if Leoben picks up on that?
Asch was the original "chosen one". Luke was created as a perfect copy in every way, in order to replace Asch's role in the prophecy of their world. Essentially, said destiny also fortold that Asch would have died in the process, and the person who had Luke created wanted to use Asch's power after he would have died. To that end, Luke actually does use the "forbidden power" to destroy the city as mentioned in the prophecy - which has sown a hell of a lot of guilt into Luke (despite him being deceived into thinking he was actually saving the city). His existence, however, was used as the wedge to prove that the religion of prophecy in his own world was false (important in that the prophecy eventually foretold the destruction of the world). Like Asch, he has an aversion to fulfilling prophcies, but honestly wants what's best for humanity - it's just that on Auldrant, following the prophecy is not it.
4. Is it okay for Leoben to predict your character's future through the patterns?
I don't see any problem with it.
5. Going with that, would you be interested in a full-out vision at some point?
For the record, I love plots. As it is, I'm fine with this.
Hope that wasn't tl;dr. @_@

1. How much can Leoben know about your character?
Leoben, you can take Edel's history and flip it upside down on him. The biggest keys of his history (and most important story-wise) is that his family is of a noble background and has ties to the magical society. Unfortunately, Edel's mother suffered a mental relapse and his father was killed in the process, so she's hospitalized in an institution while his Uncle (at times) has custody of Edel. Edel is terrified of his uncle, who has some sort of ridiculous jealousy streak against him and later reveals himself to still be deeply in love with his sister( Edel's mother. )
Also tl;dr Edel has a very close friend who he likes just a little bit too much. (and no it's not Alex okay!!! He is second-papa!! Lawrence is always no. 1.)
2. What are some things that Leoben can tell right off the bat? Anything that you want to remain hidden?
Although Edel doesn't know this himself, he has the ability to control chimera due to his lineage. He still has the possibility of becoming one himself, but he also isn't harmed by most of them. Other than that, you can pretty much tell anything of Edel if you want me to divulge more. he had a breakdown at thirteen, is a bit of a hermit, but he's really well meaning- just horribly socially awkward.
3. Is your character some kind of chosen one and is it alright if Leoben picks up on that?
I... I don't really think Edel is anything of a chosen one, but he's deliciously tasty in terms of magic!
4. Is it okay for Leoben to predict your character's future through the patterns?
You certainly can! Edel will most likely become a master scholar at the School of Alchemy and uh, probably be married to the Prime Minister of St. Helena later in the distant future.
Honestly, the most important factor is whether or not Edel will live beyond his chapter in the story. (which, at this point, seems more likely than not. But it's not always like that.)
5. Going with that, would you be interested in a full-out vision at some point?
I... don't think Edel can handle the truth!!! Haha.

2. He's half human and half monster, so he has a Wooly as an alternate form. He doesn't want that to be public knowledge.
3. He's "destined" (in the sense that any RPG character is destined to follow the plot) to defeat an elemental dragon god in single combat to rescue his love.
4. I don't see how this is a thing but okay.
5. Possibly. o.o I'd certainly be interested in discussing it, anyway.

it's always the one letter that changes the meaning of the word, isn't it
